It’s officially fall in Colorado and Ben and I kicked it off the best way we know how: taking a trip up to the Western Slope to visit his family, and do some 4-wheeling on the Grand Mesa. If you haven’t experienced the Grand Mesa during this short window of yellows, reds, and oranges, you need to throw it on your list. When I say short period of time, I mean 2-3 weekends at the end of September and very beginning of October. We caught the tail end of it (still incredible), but the real color change happened the weekend before we were there.
We kicked off the trip in our usual style… Late. 🙂 We didn’t get on the road until about 5:30, so we knew it was going to be a long night.
Full disclaimer: trips to the grandparents house are cheat weekends. There’s a magical place called Taco Time on the western slope where they have fried pinto bean burritos, and jalepeno cheesy tots. To deny yourself these would just be silly. We probably only go up 3-4 times a year, so when we’re there, Taco Time is ALL the time!
